Best protection for a 30, or 60gb ipod?

iSkin is good if you want to keep it clean from everyday scratch or Vaja case if you have $$ to spare. If you go with Vaja, be sure to order screen protector and click wheel protector

that's right. and then you can get a hardcore aluminum case over the skin without worrying about scratches. that way you have both impact and scratches covered for your ipod for a total of about 40 bucks.

iSkin over a BSE works for me.

^ Yup, iSkin Evo + BSE is the best. But it's best not to put on the cover for the clickwheel if you're going to do that. If you do, and then use the iSkin Evo, then the clickwheel is either too sensitive or not enough, and has a tendency to not read your scrolling as well.

I use a Nano and I like how the BSE combined with the iSkin Duo desensitizes the click wheel personally. I feel the BSE alone makes the click wheel a bit touchy personally. Great combo though/

i have an invisible shield and it works wonders. not a single scratch on my ipod since early 2005. and i use it quite frequently too. basically i didn't want a skin to cover the new (back then) black ipod. its only 20 bucks but it'll take some patience to put it on.

I've been pretty happy with my ISKIN EVO3. It feels great in my hand and seems to be holding up nicely.

I did notice some light scuffing just above the display (only on the white area, not on thie display area, that is still crystal clear with no scratching at all). Other than that minor place so far my IPOD looks darn near new. Also I can put it into my dock without any problem to charge it up. I like the ISKIN evo.

I like it because it gives you a better grip on the IPOD and also gives it a bit of shock resistance if you were to drop it... Oh yea don't forget that having a nice hard piece of plastic over the display will reduce the liklihood that you will crack the LCD by hitting it on a table corner or something similar.

I ditto the Contour. I had the original iSee, and was happy with it, and just upgraded to the Showcase a couple weeks ago, really, really like the Showcase. However the PocketDock does not fit the Showcase it does fit the iSee. I took a NYKO cable that is iPod connection on one end and RCA on the other, and modified it with an 1/8" mini. This works great, still have another NYKO w/ RCA for those type connections.

There are many good suggestion above. It may be worth considering not just the protection, but how you will use your iPOD. For example, will you use it with a dock, do you like the screen immediately visible or can you have a cover over it, is weight important, do you want a belt clip, etc.

The options for good protection are numerous and can be narrowed down by your use preferences. After all was said and done, I went with an Invisible
Shield and an aluminum case with a neoprene lining. I find this arrangement precisely suits the way I use my iPOD. The Best Skin Ever offers a more cost effective choice than the Invisible Shield and appears to perform equally well.

Also remember, protection is not just about keeping the ipod looking new and free from scratches. This is something very important to most especially in the beginning. However, and I speak for myself only, after about 1 or 2 years with my ipod, I don't really care that it looks old anymore, so long as it works.

And, to keep it working, i think that regardless of the case you use, just make sure you get a small bag for it, and carry it around in another bigger bag rather than in your pocket. Stand still or sit but don't move around when you retrieve your ipod to change a track or adjust volume. The bottom line is you don't ever want to drop your ipod. However shock proof your case is, it is always a risk.

Also, keep the li-on battery alive with frequent charging, and not only when it is fully discharged.

I used my dremel tool to remove some material, now my pocket dock works great.
