Best program for converting Mp3 to Ogg Vorbis?

Well I have just finished tagging my 3k+ mp3s/misc and noticed vorbis. I just got a Karma that can run em and have been hearing that they take less space and sound better than mp3. I definately could use the extra space and never mind a bump in sound quality.

why?

transcoding from lossy to lossy is bad. If you can you should re-rip to a lossless format like FLAC and then you can transcode to any format you want later.

In your situation, you will probably lose sound quality going from MP3 to OGG because it is like making a photocopy of a photocopy, it isn't perfect to begin with so you get the problems of the original, and then amplify them.

Your Karma also plays MP3's I believe?

Leave them how they are unless you want to rerip and encode from the source material.

Transcoding between two lossless formats is very bad.

What programs did you use for ripping and encoding? I havent had to manually tag something in years.

A lot of my music has been on my drive for years, I don't recall what I use to use but I've stuck to EAC now. A lot of my tagging was just annoying things like the title having the band's name in it, or capitalization, etc...

I see... that is a pain. I havent been downloading much music since I've been working [I can afford to buy it now], but back when I was in school I remember the retagging process was very frustrating.
