Looking to pick up a pair of these again and wondered what the best price is?

I've heard some people getting them at Guitar Center for ~$60-65. Can anyone confirm this? Is it a matter of bartering, as many have done with the DT770/80?

Your help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Well, I got off the phone with my local Guitar Center and haggled them down to $69 before tax. Should I jump on these (again)?

Yup, it is - I just ordered a second one today (the old one is still alive and kicking, but I'd like to check for series variation and possible sonic impact of the MiniXLR cable version) for 112 Euro (including 16 % vat).

Yeah, normally it's $99 at Guitar Center (and pretty much everywhere I've seen online), so I may have to jump on it.

Also, I need to do some reading on how they improve when amped...

Greatly. You won't realize just how much until you do get a good amp for them. They're also very sensitive to amplification, moreso than any other headphone I've tried. Most of my cans didn't change much going from my receiver to a Gilmore V1; these did. Dramatically. Clarity and bass tightness improves by a large margin.

Despite this, I still enjoyed them unamped... initally, anyway. I couldn't go back now, though.

How's about through something like Drew's Super Mini Moy (dual OPA2227's, buffered, rail splitter, etc.)? It's gotta be a huge improvement over the headphone jacks on my Sony 100w stereo receiver and 50w Pioneer P.O.S. receiver....

appar111: Sounds good to me - that should do, I guess.

Should be fine... I'm not really sure what the "limit" is for the AKGs with amps.

Yep, $99.99 is their everyday price. After tax, I walked out with them for $74.73. Hopefully this time I'll hang on to them

(since I'll have an amp to use with them this time, although they sound pretty durned good without one).
