Hey,

At the moment I own a 30GB Cowon iAudio X5. I couldn't be happier in terms of sound quality and build quality. The problem is I need more space. I would like to have a player with 60GB - 160GB(Preferable). I have looked at the Archos 605 WiFi, but was turned away by reports of bad sound quality and a hissy sound. Also some say that it is more of a video player, rather than an music. I don't generally like iPods, because I feel iTunes is too restrictive, but if I have to I will get one. I don't want an iMod, because I don't want to carry around an amp around with me all the time.

Thanks for all the input,
Brian

4g imod doesnt need an amp, a volume attenuator will do.

After you used to Cowon , I bet your taste will never down to IPOD sound quality.

If you really want to change a new musical signature, Sony X 1050 and AMP3 is worth to consider. but be aware, it seems the superb sound quality DAPs don't provide big memory.

I won an x5l which I have been trying to sell for a long time now because I bought an AMP3, there is no comparison with sound quality, it's like listening to a tiny stage as opposed to a full concert hall, I agree that previously the x5l was the best available but alas it is no longer!!

If you really need that 60 to 160GB space then I'd say go for the new ipod classic. As long as you have a decent set of earphones the SQ will be fine for on the go.

Considering that you like the Cowon you presently have, you might try waiting a bit to see if the S9 gets upgraded to 64GB. I presently have the 32GB version and it is a great little player. Especially now that it has gapless playback.
