Having done research on headphones within my price range and having reached no conclusion on what I should buy, I have decided to enlist the help of professional audiophiles. What I'm looking for in headphones is clarity, bass and all that other junk are also important to me, but the most important thing that I look for in headphones is crisp and clear music that will maintain it's quality in low volume levels. To me, clarity is the most important feature. If you can find it in your heart, please help this poor soul by providing some thoughtful advice as to what I should purchase.

P.S. I personally hate those headphones with those bulky noise cancellers, so don't recommend me any of that.

EDITED: Since the type of music that one listens to should be considered, I thought I should mention that I listen mostly to Hip-hop, Pop, Classical

$57 shipped, mylar x3's... and they don't have those useless active noise cancellation things.

EP630s from Creative are another good alternative in your price range.

EQUATION RP-15MC. Closed and was stated to be very similar to its widely loved brother. The 75's are excellent for their price though they're not going to fulfill your craving for"clarity". Their metallic treble overwhelms everything at times and it DOES get fatiguing after a while. NOt to mention that they're not the best portable phones either since they're open.

low volume listening > isolation = canalphones/IEM
canalphones/IEM > your price range > good clarity = MylarOne X3

Headphones that I having been looking at include the Sennheiser MX500, PX100, PMX100, Sony's MDR collection, iGRADO, and the Koss Portapro and KSC-75. Although I have already looked at quite a few of the popular headphones, I am still unable to make a final decision as I am quite indecisive....it is also because I always see someone recommend something that I have overlooked or haven't heard of at all. Please bear with me everyone, I just want to make a well informed purchase.

P.S. If there is something that you would like to recommend but just so happen to go over my price range, I feel that ten dollars more wouldn't hurt if it is significantly better than the rest in your opinion.

This is exactly what I mean by having overlooked products. Creative ER630 and Mylar X3 seem to be very popular here. The EQUATION RP-15MC seems to be DJ headphones, are they suitable as portable headphones?

They are closed and A LOT smaller than the JUMBO RP21's. I'm guessing you've heard of the RP21's by now?
Also easy to drive with a portable and coupled with a detachable cable.

I own the MDRV150. Unless you are planning on buying K81DJ pads I would totally avoid that model and the V-Crap series.

The MX500 is typically an okay sounding earbud that is slightly better than the stock earbuds bundled with most MP3 players. There's better options if being an earbud is not necessary.

The PortaPro is much like the KSC75, only a tad darker with powerhouse bass. Looking at your music types and posts you might want to seriously consider these. The KSC75 is balanced with a tad brightness and are very moddable. The PX100 is similar in sound signature to the PortaPro, but more bassy and not the best mids. The PMX100 is the same but in a street style build.

If isolation is what you want, under $50 the better would be cans like the Sennheiser eH150 (fairly balanced, slightly hollow), or possibly the HD205 (punchy bass and fun). Also you "might" be able ot find the K81DJ (very punchy bass and clear) for $50. I compare123'ed it and found it for $56. Again, I would not bother with the Sony V series in this price range--if isolation is necessary the other three would easily top the mediocre MDRV150 and MDRV300.

I was looking at newegg and I saw that the Sennheiser PMX 200 are sale for $40 which makes it the same price as the PX100s. Under these situations, what is the better buy?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the Grado SR60 be a better choice than the K81DJs? I don't know the exact difference between the two so please enlighten me =)
