i have the FiiO E1, E3 and E5, the favorite being the E1. Its ridiculously small ( the cable maybe long but i tied it up so it can still fit into the tightest of my jeans pocket), is cheap ( good alternative till the pico slim arrives) and the remote is really really handy, so i usually leave it hanging out of my pocket, so that i don't have to take out my gloves and ipod touch in the cold to change songs etc. the fact that the improvement is noticeable( esp for the RE0 as that is the iem that i initially bought the E1 for) is a bonus for me.
if you just need something short term, the E1 is a perfect choice, but if you aren't planning to upgrade any time soon, you may want to shoot for something higher, hence saving you that $20.
