what portable amp would you guys recommend for me? i want one for under $200...or maybe $300 if i can afford it. i want to use it mainly for my ipod nano and my portable cd player. i own sony v700's, grado 80's, 325i's (in a few days), and soon some senn 555's. yes, i tried the search function...it didn't give me the results i wanted. thanks for the help.

Personally, I would look for a used AE-1, SR-71 or Hornet in that price range. Headroom's Micro Amp with the desktop module is a great performer you can pick up new for $300 though it doesn't have great battery life. Do a search on those amps and have a read, they will be the main suspects in that price range along with whatever Xin is offering this week.

Thanks for that suggestion OP, it's a great one. I haven't been around enough lately to keep up on the new introductions but that one seemed to have real potential!

I hate to sound like a broken record (how's that for an obscure reference?

) but the 2006 Total AirHead and BitHead are changed amps. Hope you get a chance to listen to one or both soon.
