Hey, I've got an X-fi fatal1ty, it has an expansion bay that goes into one of the computers empty drive bays, and that is powered via a 3 1/2" floppy power connector. The drive bay is connected to the sound card via an unshielded ribbon cable. I can either plug my A900's into the drive bay, or the line out directly on the back of the sound card. Note, that if I use the drive bay, I have to use to 1/4 to 1/8 adapter. So basicly I am asking, is it better to plug them into the sound card or the drive bay? Thanks.

If the output on the soundcard wasn't a line-out that would be best. Line-outs are dangerous for headphones. The front bay is the best place.

Well I assume it's a line out, it's the green analog plug that you normally plug stereo speakers into. This is the first time I have heard a line out is dangerous for a headphone, what can it do? Also, lets say I would be using a PA2V2. Would the drive bay still be best?

If you are using a PA2V2 then the line-out would be fine.
