Best place to buy akg k501?

I'm looking of a reliable place...but need them cheap. I was going to go with the Goldring dr150 but i just loove good mids...and I hear the k501 have great mids.


Any help apreciated

okay...question...

Well actually two. How are the mids of the k501 exactly? I like my mids a little exagerated but soft at the same time.

ALso, could the lack of bass be fixed by some sort of bass boost or something like this? I'm using a computer as source so I might be able to find a program with a solution to this problem.

1. The mids are really, really great. There's a bit of emphasis on the upper midrange, and everything is very smooth.
2. These will never be bassy phones. But I've noticed that burn-in helps a lot. It might just be a question of allowing your brain to get used to the clean but non-impactful bass. A warm amp (maybe a tube setup) could also help. I doubt that EQ will help much.

Do the AKG K601 have the same qualities as the k501 only better? or does it have a different sound?

Just checking...to see if I get myself some used k601
