I'm going to get into making my own cables and I'm looking for a place, other than Markertek, that carries decent mini-mini connectors. Straight connectors would be great, but right angle would be even better.

I know I can get Switchcraft right angled connectors for $4.99 a piece at markertek and Canare F-12 connectors for $3.30 at markertek, but is there anyplace that sells them cheaper? I've read too many problems of them charging way too much for shipping, not sending the specified quantities, etc. and would like to deal with another company if at all possible.

Also, are the Neutrik mini-mini connectors any good compared to stuff like the Canare and the Switchcraft?

thanks,

Westlake has the F-12 for $3.01 with no minimum order or handling charge. I've ordered from them several times without any problems. The F-12 connector is on their web page here.

I've also ordered from Pacific Radio (www.pacrad.com), but they are more expensive than Markartek. But there is no handling charge and they always get it right. The only Neutrik products I've used are their 1/4" headphone jacks.

I tend to buy most of my interconnect parts at Pacific Radio. (RCA plugs, mini plugs, star quad, tech flex, etc.) The money you save on ridiculously high handling charges balances out the slightly higher cost, and they keep sending me Post-It notes with every order. (Free Stuff = My Vote.) I quite like ordering stuff from there.

PartsExpress http://partsexpress.com/ has the Neutrik connectors. I just got some of the 4mm minis from them. They seem to be reasonably well made but were a pain to work with because the cable was such a tight fit inside the plug.
Still, now that it's done, the small size connector is a nice fit on my mint tin amp compared to the bulkier Canare connector.

Earwax-
What type of cable are you using with that Neutrik connector? It can't be Canare Star Quad, can it? It looks a tad smaller compared to the cable used with the Canare connector...

Now that I see the prices of the supplies (even Homegrown Audio's silver cable), I don't think I could pay those kind of prices-- heck, even $45 for a 1.5M Kimber Cable IC from Headroom, it seems waaaay overpriced. I'd rather do it myself and feel proud that I made something.

Hey man, I was just trying to point the original thread creator in the direction of a great mini to mini. Take your pricing concerns up with them. It's a great cable, if you can make it go for it!
