Hey all. I got some good headphone advice here last time, and now that I'm looking for speakers, I figure this'd be a good place to ask.

Basically, I'm looking for speakers that could fill a dorm (read: small) room with music while maintaining good sound quality. It'd also be nice if they could make movies sound good/intense. From looking around online, it looks like the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and the Logitech Z-2300 are good choices, but I don't really know which of those is best, or if it's something else entirely. Also, the ProMedia 2.0 seem cool because they're portable, but do they sound decent? Thanks for your help.

Also, dunno if this matters, but I'd mainly be using these with a PowerBook. Thanks again.

The Swans M200 are quite good for the price, if you can find em. I got mine for $140 @ Newegg, but they are no longer in stock there.

Highs are too bright and overwhelm the other frequencies, mids are too recessed. Sorry, I have heard the MX5021s and strongly prefer the Swan M200s.

It has bass/treble controls. Try not having the treble on full blast :P
I'd buy a pair, use a SPL meter and calibrate it.

Another vote for the SWANS M200's, I had them for a while and definitely did enjoy them. I ended up getting rid of them because I'm building a bigger and better speaker system to listen to.

I did find some of the Logitech computer speakers to be alright, but I definitely think that you should search for the M200's. I also found mine on NewEgg for like $140, and it's definitely a good price for them.

A Sonic T-Amp and a good pair of bookshelf speakers make for an awesome sub-$200 setup.
