Best Over Ear heaphones...I just left SONY MDR-1RNC

hi,
 
I recently lost my Sony MDR-1RNC headphone, i was pretty much using it everywhere at home,office and train.
 
So i am now looking for a similar or better headphone.
 
I have checked out AKG 551, AKG545 and AKG K845, Audio Technica ATH-AD900, Audio Technica ATH-M50 and they all sound good.
 
I was personally impressed by AKG K702, but dont think it can be used for commute.
 
 
my budget is around $400.
 
I mostly listen to pop/trance/progressive/ambient...
 
I dont mind using a portable amplifier on commute as long as the there are not too much sound leakage.
 
Any recommendations?

If I were you, I'll go for the AKG K550 and if possibles, pair it with a warmer amp and you are good ^_^

K551 has microphone that can be used with smartphone, but the technical specs are same for K550 and K551.

the sensitivity of K545 is lesser than that of K550 and frequency response of K545 is different

Sometimes, an upgrade isn't really an upgrade if it doesn't retain the original signature xD

I have got some idea...to compare with...and looks like K551 and K550 are almost the same price..so i will go with K551.

There is also the PSB M4U1 worth looking at. I find it on par with K550 if not better imaging but weaker in build quality

If you like the sound of it right now, I guess you can save the money but if you feel like the mids can be a lil bit on the thin side, I prefer the E07K
