I've got some crappy panasonic cans for computer use right now, and am looking for new ones. They are the big, "over ear" style (only way I can think to explain them, is there a term for these?). I want the best balance of comfort/sound for around 50 bucks. I listen to a lot of punk and rock music, so they have to be somewhat bass-y, but not overpowering. Any suggestions?

I think the term you're searching for is "circumaural". You want the pads to go around your ears, and not pressing on them, right?

The Sennheiser PX100 should suit you well. Search the forum for PX100 and you should get a lot of hits.

He is looking for circumaural headphones not supra-aural headphones.

Good choice, congrats!

Thanks guys, I ordered them from headroom, and the said it would be like 2-3 weeks before they got them in, but my order just shipped today. Now I just gotta find some good canalphones, for around the same price. why do the e2c's have to be just out of my price range?

My opinion is any headphone that requires instructions on how to put them in is way too much effort with me. The ex-71's were great, a littly bass-y, but I just popped it in, and it worked. None of this "moistening" and "pull the ear up and out" nonsense. I just pushed it in, and it worked. I'm waiting for someone to review the new audio technica canalphones, as those have a better driver than the ex-71's and the md33. If it's not that good I'll probably go with the md33, and do the mod to them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the Panasonic RP-HJE50s are what the EX71 should be. Clear, tight, transparent, and while they lack detail they never make the music sound poor for it.

I got the hd201 on monday, and I must say I'm very impressed. My mp3's sound horrible, but thats because these headphones are so clear. They are much flatter than my last pair, so I had to play with the eq a bit to get them to sound how I like them, but they have been amazing so far. Great sound, comfortable even with my glasses, and very easy on the wallet.
