I've narrowed down my search so far to these 3:

Palm Stereo Headset for Palm Pixi and Palm Pre
http://www.amazon.com/Palm-Stereo-Headset-Pixi-Pre/dp/B002CMEIW0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311270835&sr=8-1

or

PK2
http://www.amazon.com/YUIN-PK2-Yuin-Pk2-Earphones/dp/B001B484D4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1311268874&sr=8-2

or

The basic Ipod Earphones (never used this before, so I dont know the quality)

I listen to mostly hiphop so i'm looking for something with great bass. Anyone tried these? Other suggestions are welcomed.

For me it's the Sennheiser HD239. Bt beware, it's an on ear OPEN headphone, so not isolating much but the sound quality and the soundstage, awesome.

Oh and I forgot to mention Yamaha HPH-200 (open) and HPH-300 (closed) both on ear and great headphones with amazing clarity and impressive soundstage.

First off - http://www.head-fi.org/t/596233/buying-portable-or-in-ear-headphones-seeking-guidance-dont-start-a-new-thread-ask-for-advice-here

Most here are probably not very familiar with those choices in particular, probably why you didn't get a response. Open to other alternatives?

Check out the Koss PortaPros. Or anything from the Sony MDR XB line.

I might be mistaken, but it seems the title says -

Best non in-ear portable earphones?

Emphasis on the earphone part? If the OP can discern between earphones that are not in-ear and those that are, it'd be probable that he would be able to discern between earphones and headphones and the choice in terms of phrasing is intentional and he did mean to specify that.

Unfortunately earbud and great bass isn't synonym to each other, it'll lose out to IEM no matter what. Though if you came from stock earbuds on most DAP even PK3 would suffice.

"I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING WITH GREAT BASS.."
actually he is being led onto the path of enlightenment indirectly...lol.

ok back to earbuds...
i was told to do this if i want bigger bass,

wearing two foam over the drivers, with the outer foam having a circle cut out.
the seal is "better" if your earholes somehow can hold them :p

Yeah, as mentioned, due to the lack of an acoustic seal and all that, can't really go with earbuds for bass. The foams help, but sometimes they just end up making everything excessively warm (though it'd be worth a shot depending on what you get).
