Hi everybody,

I've had some AKG N60nc headphones for the last 3 years & unfortunately after a lot of use the ear cups are starting to come away, so time for an upgrade!

I'm looking for the best noise cancelling headphones I can get, looking at reviews the Sony wh-1000xm3, sennheiser momentum 3 & B&W PX7 seem to be the front runners.

Most important things to me would be
1. Sound quality (by far the most important)
2. Build quality (don't want them falling apart)
3. Comfort (will be wearing for extended periods of time)

Can anyone advise on what may be the best to go for or any others they may recommend?

I currently listened through my phone using tidal hifi.

On a side note would an upgrade to a dedicated personal music player be a big upgrade over listening through my phone?

And if so could you recommend any to get the most from these headphones as there does seem to be a huge choice!

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I just made an account here and I am also quite new to the headphone scene, but still here is what I have to say.

I am more into the 100-200€ range, but except from their touch control I really like the ATH-SR50BT. Pretty clear sound which does only change minimal compared to Bluetooth, wired, ANC on/off. The ANC isn't super strong though. Comfort wise they may be not extremely comfortable, but as I said I don't have a lot of reference here.

I tested my roommates Sony's you mentioned and didn't like them at all. The ANC is beast, that's true. But the sound is kinda muffled. I'm mostly listening to classical (a lot of solo piano) music and sometimes a bit of ~rock.

The Sennheiser and B&W should be superior to the Sony's, but that's only what I know from reading reviews and watching Youtube, since they're not in my price range.
The Dali IO-6 may be something to consider too. Also just a guess.

This is quite a bit late, so I'd assume you've already bought the headphones! Personally, I like the WH-1000XM2 from trying them. Most my friends really enjoy theirs as well. But, the WH-1000X are sort of your mass market (but good) ANC headphone. The B&W is going to be your more premium option - though I haven't tried it personally.
