First I gotta say - wow I've learned a lot from this forum. My new Triplefi 10s are in the mail. It took about 30 seconds with a friend's Sansa Clip to realize what my Nano 3G was missing.

Just wanted to solicit advice before I pull the trigger on a Sansa Clip+. I listen to all music, but I'm only concerned with quality when it comes to classical. I will absolutely never use video/picture/recording functions and don't care about interface/esthetics. My price ceiling is $150, but I can wait for a used/refurb deal on a more expensive model.

With SQ on Triplefi 10s as the ONLY concern, are the Fuze or Cowon or Sony models worth the extra $50-$100? Humble opinions, of course

I'm using a Fuze with triple-fi 10s and is pretty happy with the pair. AFAIK Fuze and Clip has the same SQ. I think you'll be pretty happy with a Clip+ if you don't care about video.

Hey quick question what does AFAIK mean? Lol
But on topic if you want to keep the price down the Clip+ (or normal) WILL deliver in being a great player.

I'm pretty sure that you can drive the Trips out of the HP jack (mine sound alright out of the 5G Nano HP out, which I don't really use), but if you want to spend more money down the line for an amp and cable you'll get some increase in SQ out of that also.

But if you are willing to spend a little more... I'd suggest to looking into the s:flo2 or the Telecast T51 (which are the SAME players; one without the branding though). They have amazing SQ from impressions and reviews and have a dedicated line out port for amping.

Once I sell either my Lod/T4/PFE/orSuper.fi 5s I'm definitely going to pick one up.

Thanks for the replies. Thats a lot of 'maybes' and 'probablys'. I want a DAP to match these phones, not one thats 'close'. Will the Clip fall short of that mark? If so I'm definitely getting something else.

The Teclast looks good, kinda frilly but I can handle that. I doubt I'll be amping any time soon; would likely buy some cans and a quality sound card for home listening before I did that. Any other suggestions? The best no-frills DAP to match Triplefi 10s? (changed the thread title to that more appropriate question)

Try a FiiO E1 with your Nano. $20 investment which may satisfy you. If it doesn't, you can always sell it and probably end up down only $5 for the knowledge that you do need a much better quality player.

Oh now that is just awesome. I knew about the E5, had no idea they made an ipod specific model. That is exactly what I need.

Thank you very, very much.

I've tried putting an amp between the Fuze and Triple-fi 10, and to my ears the difference the amp makes is minimal. May be my ears are not sensitive enough.

You will love the Fuze, get a refurb off Ebay for 40ish free ship, mine and my wifes fuze are refurbs and they look new and have had no prblems at all with them. they power the trips nicely. I do use a p-51 mustang with mine though.

Speaking of refurbs, woot.com today has refurbished 8GB Clip for 37 bucks.
I would spend a bit more and get a Clip+ instead though, because of the SD slot.
