I wanted to spend a £150 on medium sized mp3 player and good quality earphones. After looking around I was thinking of going for this as its within my 150 budget -

Sony 16gb NWZ-S639F and Sennheiser CX 95 style earphones.

I am not too bothered about video playback but more on good sound quailty for music. Is this a good choice or can you recommend a better combo?!

Thanks!

I think a better idea is a Sansa Fuze for about £50-60 and more expensive earphones (around £100).
You have several earphone options at that price point. Maybe Futuresonics Atrios (£100), or Etymotic Research HF5 (£80 on Amazon.co.uk - wow! this is a very good price), or Audeo PFEs.
Read up on the sound character of those earphones, they are quite different.

But £80 for the HF5 seems a nice deal O_O was it always that low on UK Amazon?

Great price them HF5...

Edit: Bah. "usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months"

@OP

That's not a bad choice as both have great synergies. But I don't think the CX 95 is worth £60-70 any longer especially in recent months when they have been updating their entire product line up.

If you can spare a bit more you can get the Sony and a Super.Fi 5 or Atrio.
