The Cary Audio CAD 300 SEI integrated amplifier are said to have a really great headphone out. I have never heard it myself though, just seen it in store.

yes - very nice pics. you dont see many head phone jacks on similar equipment. i think these go for around 2k used.
tube rolling possibilities for sure. thanks for posting.

headphony in helsinki....thank you for bringing those links up. i have started going through them. good info.
i have phone jack/ with level control on my marantz 8260 sacd but it is tonally dead. and the 8260 is unreliable at reading cd's.
my old marantz 2230B seems to do a good job with my grado 80's.

Hi pmd.
Im using nad c352 with my 225s and the last days i have listened between my LD I+ and nad and i have to admit. Its more enjoyable to listening to the nad. gives it more bass and is a little darker in the sound but thats ok for me. i also think my nad has more controll on the hights.
with my akgs its another level in the bass. very deep and punchy compared to the I+.

Check out the offerings from McIntosh. I have an old McIntosh integrated amp, an MA5100. 2 headphone jacks! Excellent. You just can't go wrong with McIntosh (new or used). But you'll pay a small fortune for the new stuff. Some would even say that it is worth it. I stick to good used stuff (also knowing that anything McIntosh can be repaired/refurbished).

I'm an owner so I can admit to being a bit partial, but Leben CS600 is the best that I've heard. The sound gets transmitted directly to headphone-out via output transformers, like how it really should be done but isn't in the industry... You also have tons of options to roll the tubes, EL34, 6L6 family, KT-77, KT-88, etc... right now I have the new reissues of Genalex Gold Lion KT-77s, and the result is pretty damn good.

I would like to chime in on this with my Leben CS300. It is an incredible amp and a real beauty. It is my favorite with the K701, D5000, D7000. It really breathes life into them. I have yet to roll the tubes. I would love to hear the CS600 too!

fyi.
just dragged out a pioneer sx 727 i found through the nifty nickle some time ago - hooked it up to the cd player and listened with my grado 80's...
and wow ... it seems as good or better ( alittle diferent) than my
marantz 2230B. very nice surprise.

There's quite a lot of variability with recievers, amps, and even cassette decks in their headphone outputs, so try everything you've got.
