I'm looking for a good set of IEMs for under $100. These will be used a lot so they need to be able to handle commutes and other daily activities at the office. I am not looking to break the bank on them as i would just like a good utility pair of IEMs. I will be listening to all types of music from Blues-Rock-techno and everything in-between. i have been reading many of the posts on here and i have no idea what i should be getting. I have always loved great sounding music and movies but am more into home theater so i am a beginner at headphones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you want to keep it under US$100, I'd recommend the Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 series. You can get them online for around US$70. The Etymotics I have are about the same price, but the tricky ear fitting with the three-flange eartips and no booming bass may not be to your taste.

The new JVC HA-FX66 series (about US$30) has gotten some good recommendations here, too.

Thanks! I will research those. I am considering the JBL reference 220s. They seem to be very good on all ranges of music. I am not sure about the 3-flange eartips as i have never used them before. But i will definitely check into the UE 3 series. Thanks again!

Ety 6is are great for classical, jazz, and vocals in my opinion. I have a pair and love them but from what I've read, most IEM have different feels so it all comes down to preference. That said I've not head any other IEM so I can't say for sure. Wish there was a place were you could listen to all of the IEMs to figure out which IEM is your preferred style of sound.

Under the $100 I would still go for the Crossroads MylarOne X3. They have a phenomenal soundstage, good bass (although the XB from the same range is better) and very good mids. High is a little thin sometimes. Detail is spectacular. At $59,00 incl p&p it's a steal.

anyone knew where i can purchase the XBs or X3s? I am having a hard time finding them online. Amazon is out of stock on them and there aren't any places that i can find in my area that sell them.

I am still undecided but have narrowed the search down.

XBs/X3s, UE fi3 live, or jbl reference 220s

I've got a similar problem and I'm nearly convinced to buying Crossroads X3. However, I've heard that their construction quality isn't good and they tend to break down after some time. I know that there's warranty, but I don't feel like risking spending several weeks waiting to have them repaired.

Can anyone say whether that's true?
Also, I would be very grateful if you could list some places where I can order the aforementioned headphones and have them shipped to my country (Poland).

daveDerek: I've seen in another forum a negative opinion about Altecs, but since you listen to GG and claim they are good, I'll have to give them a second thought

. Can you say something more about them?

Personally, I don't really get what the rave is all about when it comes to these crossroads. I've tried them out and IIRC, I felt that the bass was bloated and flabby while the highs were insufficient yet somehow piercing (yes, I don't understand it as well). Moreover, they break if you push too hard when trying to get a better steal, or so I've heard.

If you really need isolation, go for the UE or westones, if not, pk3 is a great buy too.
