Not sure, they're not for me. I'd say they would need bass and upper mids. And the best detail and quality you can get for the price.

60 or under cuts you off from the $70-100 range but you could try to get a hold of some v-moda vibes for cheap. they are a little odd sounding with lots of emphasis on bass but from my week or two of using them I'd say they are very nice for metal.

You don't have much options at that price range, especially if you want isolation. Without isolation the C551 might be a decent choice. If you want to stick to that price range the marshmallows will probably be your best option, but you should consider upping your budget and getting the IM716 (yes, they have not much bass but their bright nature, great clarity and speed makes them a good metal IEM).
