CX300 wouldnt be a bad choice unless you truly need the isolation of a true IEM.. it is a bit less accurate but sounds better over more genres of music than IEMs and still provides a good level of isolation
I have got the RS-2, and the d-JAYS, have a similar signature, but they do not play nearly as well, the grados also kost 5 times more...
The bass does not go as deep, the highs are not as high and so on..
but they have this "I like guitar" feeling upon them...
The q-JAYS have a more neutral (but still fun) sound, they still have the edge that I like on the guitars..
But as the d-JAYS they can not really compet with the rs-2, I do not think much can, also they are only apr ½ the price of the grados..
So it depends og what you want in the gradosound, also which Grado you have got, I have read that they are a little bit different from model to model..
I think the westone UM2 is similar to Grado in some ways. Like others have said, it depends on what you like about Grado headphones. If you like the brightness and treble detail, it's something else, probably the er4. If you like the musicality and rock-out ness of the Grado, the UM2 is the one.
I won the UM2 at the first national meet, after having said earlier in the day that if I had to pick a ~200$ IEM, I'd take the UM2. If price was no object, I would've taken the E500. (talking universal fit only) I haven't compared IEMs since then. I own an ER6-i, and compared the er4, shure e4, um2, shure e500, and something universal fit from UE at the meet.
