Best IEM tips?
Feb 2, 2017 at 12:20 PM Post #256 of 3,230
I have sensitive ear canals and it will start itching after about 15 mins with any silicon tips but I can use Comply for twice as long or longer but they do lose elasticity over time (real time not in ear time) and does require some fiddling to get them seated right. I was recently introduced to the SpinFit. While it's still a silicon tip and will irritate my ear after a while, it's sound quality is wonderful and the best thing is that it spins and tilt so you won't have to press them deep into you ear to get a good seal (which does help with the irritation). I've been using it on my IEM since I got them and if my ear can get used to them, I'll probably use them instead of Comply.

An interesting way to prolong the life of comply is to put it together with a dehumidifier.

I am really liking the RHA (large) tips on the 1More triples - slightly ovular by the looks / feels of it - my new favourite silicon tips :)

My favorite tips are Future Sonics'.

I like the Shure olives and the Sony hybrids, too. Just, less. Ah, except that the Shure olives tend to be the superior choice with dynamic earphones: the Future Sonics tips seal so well, they can prevent the diaphragm from vibrating (as is the case, ironically, with Future Sonics' own Atrio earphones).

What diameter of nozzles will the Large tips fit on?

The internal diameter of the large tips is the same as for the medium and small tips. Those tips are made to fit the very thin nozzles of Future Sonics' IEMs (and, by extension, of at least several IEMs from Shure and Westone).

Basically, they fit like the Shure olives, not like the Sony hybrids.

Thanks!

A couple of my IEMs have smaller than average nozzles, and at least one has larger than average nozzles.
So it's helpful knowing about tips that fit the non-average units.

Check with him

http://ineargear.com/tipscablescases.html

That'd work, but ... gosh, the difference in price!

Directly from Future Sonics: $12.00 (shipping to the USA)
From In-Ear Gear: $18.50 (shipping to the USA)
From In-Ear Gear: $29.50 (shipping to Europe)

And I thought $12 was already expensive for six silicone tips. -_-"

Yeah I know , but the problem soundeq facing is , the product vendor seems doesn't shipp outside usa ,therefore that's the reason why I pointed him to Mike " in ear gear " . If one really needs it , then got No choice but to spend a little bit more on shipping . That's part of the game .

That's not as if I had a better alternative to offer, mind you! But yeah, the "game" is often, If you live in Europe, be prepared to pay a lot more than if you lived in the States.

I've recently ordered a few different tips on AliExpress. We'll see if there's one set I like.

Nope , didn't get a chance to try those , previously before the Red ones , I'm on foams with some generic silicone ones , I didn't get a proper fit with any sizes on those silicone and the foams doesn't last long enough for me , I'm sweat + oily skin .
I chance upon the Red tips when I was searching for the original HTC tips ( also in red ) which comes with my mobile headset , the Red tips are equally good to those of original HTC tips , both share the samei size diameter , also in red . Only difference is the HTC tip are softer . As regards with comfy and sealing , both are identical .

I don't know how many actually bought and try it after I had share out , till now , only you and Jmills are the only known ones here whom had confirmed to me that it's good on you both .
And the last I spoke with that seller , he told me he had something close to 30 orders on that Red being shipped out after my advice to him to list the tip up in the store for others to have a chance to buy and try it for themselves .
But then , too bad , since then , that seller has gone MIA . He had close his aliexpress store .

Exactly bro , very often we see shipping cost is 3-5 times over the item itself.
Aliexpress is a very good hunting ground for unbrand tips , over there I'm lucky enough to find a very good tip which works flawlessly on me without spending tens / hundreds of dollars in search for a ideal fit / seal .
Technically , the search for a ideal tip which actually seal + proper fit is over . Until I wasted up all 8 pairs I got at hand , will then I go hunting . But theoretically the 8 pairs can probably last me of a lifetime I'm pretty damm sure about that ... But not so sure if my iem can last that long :D
There's a lot of varieties to choose from + cheap + free shipping in most cases in alixpress

I'm sure you'll get to find some workable on you .
