I've owned:
-V-moda IEM (can't remember the model, but they were black with a silver X), and the M80s
- Shure SE425
- Jay bird BluebudsX

The vmoda and jaybirds hurt my ear canals, and the Shure's were excellent but I always felt like the audiophile quality was not quite right for what I listen to. I listen to everything, but mostly hip hop, house, and r&b.

The sound I like is not Bose or Beats, or some crappy consumer sound, I'm more on a good balanced soundstage with some clean detailed bass that knows it's place, and very good vocals.

Any ideas?

Yamaha EPh100 though it won't your ear canals any favours, I dunno

If you like your wireless

Sony SBH80, shallow insert, smooth, though not gonna be a detail monster

maybe GR07 is more balanced for you

I don't have the A73, but based on the overwhelming number of trusted good impressions, they will be very good.

I do have the Titan1's, and they are very good. They can be had for $79US + $12US shipping from massdrop periodically.

If you like V signature then you might like Momentum, if you like "audiophile" quality then you won't.  Sennheiser did just come out with a new cx3 and cx5 though (although 5 looks kinda.... meh), but both are more mainstream.

I don't know if anyone around here still uses monster turbines anymore, I had the first version and they were super heavy, which is also kind of why I didn't mention the Dunu 1000

it's a hybrid so it kinda fits what you're going for.

Fidue A73 are very good and as ex-owner of VSonic GR07BE I would vote for A73.

Headphone Bar in BC just got the GR07 BE back in stock here. No crappy US exchange, no waiting 2 weeks for shipping or paying through the nose for faster shipping, all for under your budget. I've never tried the A73's, but in my experience for $140 bucks, these cant be beat and found right here in Canada from a great vendor.

A73 are not revolution compare to the GR07BE, more like a very good evolution for the nearly same money. If GR07BE are simply available, go for them. They are really good.

Hmm the headphone bar link is showing a GR07 Classic maroon color even though it is a GR07 bass listing.

Anyway, i think you can get the GR07 Bass on amazon canada too.

so I'm not totally sure what the "V" sound is except the equalizer deal, and even then I'm not totally sure how that sounds - off the top of my head.

I know that the Shure 425s were excellent but not for me because I think they were geared towards audiophile, and while I appreciate the sound quality of like that quality with more bass (but not high school bass)

Try the "rock" eq setting, if you like boosted low end and treble then you like the V signature, if you really want to get intimate with the singers' voice then you'll want something more balanced or mid centric

Got it, no I'm not a V sig fan then.

Perhaps a good summary would be: I'm looking for something that has the quality of Shure, with a little extra bass.
Bose - no
Beats - no
