Joined the forums just to ask this question-

I am looking for a pair of new earbuds, after mine broke (again),  and decided not to let me solder them back together. So my question, what pair of buds can I get, with huge, thumping bass (Too bad headphones can't sound like my 10" sub)?
In the past I have had Skullcandy JiBs (gift), as well as my current pair of over-ears, Sennheiser HD 202s (also a gift).
I would prefer a headphone that would at least blow away the skullcandys, as I know there are much better alternatives, but I am pretty new to the audiophile world.

Also, in-line iPod volume control would be GREAT, but as a lot of 'phones dont have it, I can probably hack it on if the buds are cheap enough.. Or live without. :D

Looking at these Atrio X's (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050VN4TS/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004X97FXO&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0D5RQTDT9Q16D149QJA8)

JVCs (http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HAFX1X-Headphone-Xtreme-Xplosivs/dp/B004M8SAJ4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1341371062&sr=1-1&keywords=headphones+bass)

Or a refurb Klipsh S4i (http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-S4i-Premium-Noise-Isolating-3-Button/dp/B00264GYMG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)

Just In Ear headphones/earbuds (I assume they are the same as IEMs)... Not over-ears :)

Actually the Atrio X's come in a model with remote functions- looks good ATM.... Will keep looking for a while though..

That would be awesome- let me know how the refurbs are as well in terms of quality...

Also, please tell me how they fit!! One of the few things holding me back right now from buying is that a lot of people say the fit sucks...

Well i happen to know a pair of the S4s, I do like them. The fit is not horrible. I find it best if you turn them and let the cord drape over the top of your ears. I can usually fit them pretty far in to my ears comfortably. But they aren't that bass heavy. Don't get me wrong they do have great bass. might not be as much as you want though.

Also other option would be a Vsonic GR02 .... and if u really want a punchy bass then u could go for panasonic rp htf600-s for 31 $... however they re over the head HEADPHONES.

Owned GR02 and heard AM90, you wont get huge bass from these. Especially AM90, GR02 has good bass but i would not call it huge.

Really leaning towards the Atrio MG5s ATM... Emailed customer support asking a few Qs. Will wait for reply.
That and the Klipschs.

I *really* love the look of the Sony's though... Utterly amazing look, but at the price (Round $60 on amazon), and lack of volume control... its an iffy thing for me.

My plan is to try to get a pair of decent buds with volume control, and then get these Monoprice Hair Dryers (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10823&cs_id=1082303&p_id=8320&seq=1&format=1#largeimage) and just clip the ends and solder onto my broken apple volume control set (maybe also take the fabric cord over... apple buds really suck). I read on another post here the monoprices were pretty good and seem like a decent try for $10

Reading this thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/586909/the-discovery-thread-new-the-jvc-ha-fx40-page-83-jvc-ha-fx101-page-96 , I'd go with JVC HAFX101. It is $20 or less. It has mids and high to match the bass.

Thanks for the replies everyone, great stuff to look at...

On another note, what do you guys all look for in IEs for bass? I mean, apart from trying them all, how can you tell the good from the bad? I mean, you can just go off of driver size (Eg, Monoprice < MG51), so what should I look for?
