What's up head-fi'ers. So right now i'm looking for a good set of headphones solely for movies. My Grado SR80i's are great for listening to metal/hard rock music but as far as movies go the treble is a little harsh and there's not enough bass. Even with the bass boost turned on the highest setting on my Fiio E7 (it's my only headphone amp/dac). I guess i'm looking for a pair of headphones with better soundstage and bass. I'd also like to keep it under 400 if possible. Or maybe a better headphone/amp combo. Any suggestions would be great. I have searched around and the opinions vary but i haven't found much for headphones used solely for movies and games. Oh, lastly i don't need a mic on it for gaming. Thanks for any help. -Jeff

Ultrasone Pro900 or HFI-2400 maybe?

Do you prefer open or closed headphones?

I'm using the Beyerdynamic DT 770 and the Audio Technica AD900x for my movie cans.  Both perform superbly, though I prefer the DT 770's because of the velour ear pads.

If you want to keep it cheap, I'd second the DT770. Get the Pro version that's 80 Ohm, and if you need more volume out of it, you can add a Fiio E11 or C&C BH for relatively cheap.

Otherwise, if you can stretch your budget, I'd say... seriously consider the Hifiman HE-400 combo with the Fiio E12.

I would say any of these:

HD600
AD900
DT880
K701

Good detail, good soundstage, balanced sound. But you only have a Fiio E7, which is not enough for almost any headphone I said, but the AD900, so I would choose it.

He might want something a bit more bassy for an immersive experience. Also the HE-400 is quite heavy, which can be annoying. I would say you should look into some higher end ultrasones or the dt-770. They don't necessarily need more amplification than your e7 can provide.
