Here's what i need,

Full size headphones
to be used on a train, (background noise isolation, and leakage are important)
Budget of around 100-120

Music types:

Pink Floyd
Beatles
Metallica
Occasional Hip-Hop, Country and classical

Thanks in advance,
Phil

Its not really a priority, I just don't want too much outside noise from coming in.

I have a set of the cheap sennheiser CX-300 that do the trick for me whenever i need something compact. I would just like something more accousticly proficient, in a full-size headphone.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I will check out those M50's.

One thing i forgot to mention is, i commute 90-120 minutes a day, so they would need to be comfortable enough for at least that amount of time.

Thanks again

Equation RP-21? Do a forum search...lots of good reviews. I like them a lot for hip hop and pop/rock/country...listening to Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing' right now.

Any full size cans that have good isolation would clamp pretty hard against your skull, so they lose out in comfort IMO.

The ones that don't clamp hard just don't provide enough isolation for music enjoyment for me.

I used to commute for about 60-70 minutes with a pair of Sony MDR-V6 headphones. I loved those cans - took them all over and listened to them as much as I did my speakers. I gave them away when I got a pair of Sennheiser HD-650s, but they're not bad. If you look, you can sometimes find a refurb for around $50.

The MDR-V6 is widely used for studio and professional work and has been on the market at least 20 years. It's not as good as some of the audiophile cans, but it's far from bad. Also, I found them comfortable to listen to for hours. If I had a commute where I could listen to headphones, I'd probably get another pair.

I really don't need another headphone as I already have 3 fullsize for home use and 1 iem for portable. Hopefully I can get rid of my Stax soon.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will look into all of them.

Ive heard great things about the Sony's as well, and thats what i was swaying towards at first. Just wanted to get a thumbs up from an audiophile.

Thanks again for the help
