I was just wondering what headphones the iPod owners around here
were using. I've been using the Grado SR60 with Radio Shack ear pads
which really brings out the details and the bass but it does hurt after
extending listening...

I was also wondering if any fellow iPod owners use any kind of portable amp
setup. I tried to hook it up with my JMT CHA-47 and AKG 401 but somehow
hooking it up through the headphone jack the sound just doesn't compare
to the sound from plugging in my SR60 directly.

Any suggestions?

I've used the following with my iPod.......and have had good results with each. For the most revealing sound, but one which limits movement because of the microphonic cord, I use the Etymotic ER4P. The ER6 is a close second, much less expensive, and is also better suited to mobility. For a nice, warm midrange and overall smooth sound, the Sony E888 buds work well. The KSC-35s also sound great straight out of the iPod......providing a very well-balanced, smooth sound. My son has the Sennheiser MX-500s and he loves them with his iPod.......the in-line volume control is a nice touch. Hope this helps.
