I enjoy mixing house music. I want to upgrade my headphones and buy ones according to the sounds of this kind of music.
These are my options:

- Technics rpdj1200
- Pioneer hdj5000
- Sennheiser hd280pro
- Sony mdr-v7506 (not available in my country, spain)

The best price and flat sound is for senn, but some people say technics is best for djing.
¿what do you think?

(non standard greeting around here)

of those 4 i've only heard the technics and the 7506. i really liked the technics though. a lot smoother than the 7506. maybe not quite as extended but plenty good for DJing and listening to house.

I never heard the Technics, but I think everyone can agree that you do not want those
harsh highs (of the V6) when listening to house. At least not to my likings. Depending on what kind
of house you listen to obviously.. if it's hardhouse, then all I can say is 'Buy whatever you
want, no headphone in the world can make hardhouse sound good.' Hehe! But if you're
more into deephouse, or progressive house even, I think what you would want is a more
mellow and relaxed sound, while still being precise and not making you want to fall asleep.

Good luck with your choice.

Hey,

A fellow House music fan. I am a house dj (I also mix in lots of other styles as well). Currently I use the Ultrasone 650 Trackmaster for mixing. I find it gives me a tighter control of the mix.

Though, some of my dj friends go, "um. Where's the big heavy bass." Personally I don't think you NEED big heavy bass to mix. Some people rely on it though.

You could get the Ultrasone 650 DVD if you want a little more Bass. Being in Europa, you should be able to get a really good price on these.

Jipi, don´t worry, i hate hardhouse. My favourites styles are deep/soulful/jazzy house, I also like downtempo, but I want the headphones for DJing. I am not sure about senn280 because of the lack of bass, it could make beatmatching more difficult. On the other hand sony are expensive in europe, so the best value seems to be technics, around 100$.

The Technics aren't bad. They do sound a bit muggy and muffled but they are very well built. There's lots of opinions about the 280 and the 7506 you can read elsewhere. The HDJ-1000 is... not nice. Usable and very flashy, but not something you could call particularly good sounding. I imported one of the first ones released and I sold it practically straight after I got it. If you can hunt down the Sennheiser HD25-1, they have a sharper and more accurate edge to the sound, as well as all the deep bass you could want. That would be my pick for all sorts of DJ style listening and mixing.

you mentioned you live in Spain and said that Sony is quite expensive; I can tell you that in Germany the Technics and the Sony cost just about the same in several online shops

you know what Sony I refer to, the silver ones, theses aren´t recomned on Head-Fi, I know

you know that there is a budget version of the hd-25 called hd 25 sp

Sony mdr-v500 costs 125€, mdr-v700 180€, and 7506 165€!!! In the EEUU I have seen them half that prices.
However Technics cost only a bit more here. Well, I should have said these brands are more expensive in Spain

Anyway, I prefer hd280 instead hd25sp.
I didn´t know that about Technics, I´ll review the last post about the rpdj1200/1210.

I'd go Ultrazones if you can...for future reference, the best electronica phones hands down are the Grado RS-1's. Not great for dj'ing, not cheap...but the best.

of course seeing as these are so open i can hear my watch tick while i'm wearing them, yeah they would be kind of useless for spinning. but otherwise they are just too tasty.

They would probably be nice for chilling out after a rough night clubbing.

Hopefully I will get a chance to check out some of the high end Grados one of these days. I used to have the 80's and the pain was just not worth it.
