I'm probably just gonna get a sub-$140 pair of cans and then at Christmas wish for the COPs or some other sub-$300 pair of headphones.

Thinkin' about the Q40s, Xb500s, or the pro700mk2. The m50 probably don't have enough bass for me.

This amazon review tells me that COPs have similar levels of bass compared to M50s

Seems about right considering that when I compared DT770s to M50s it felt like M50s had a more substantial kick, and that COPs have a bit more bass than DT770s.

If I were you I'd get Q40s.

I think you'll find the COP to your liking and if you don't you can always get the Q40's or XB500's Amazon has all three and a great exchange policy.

I'll just take my stick and go now...

Im 14 and in total have spent over 1000 on headphones. I usually take them back because im weird like that (unless they really satisfy me). One time i bought a pair and on my way home i decided i wanted to bring them back (then burn in happened so i kept em for another 2 weeks)

Here are some options just under $100. I did find the ath-m50 to be quite bassy, and maybe a bit too sparkly up top though some people like that. I haven't heard the q40, but I think it might be next on my list since its said to rival the dt770

Before you pull the trigger on whichever headphone you do choose make sure you read plenty of reviews. That's the best service you could do yourself. I suggest not buying the COP or the xb500 as your main headphones. The bass will impress you at first but after a while the lack of realism and detail will make you think twice. Read reviews!

I suppose I want a V-shaped sound signature. I want 'basshead' bass (as much or more than the LPs) with decent treble. I'm guessing there are also lower-mids in Dubstep..? Not sure though. But definitely bassy headphones.
