It's slightly misinterpreted. You'll definitely hear an improvement even with low quality files. It's just that you won't hear their true potential, like with amping.

Youtube uses whatever the MP3 is in the video, but it can be a WAV, Flac, AAC, MP3 MP4 and so on. And hollow is when the sound is less forward and it can be mistaken for good soundstage. Hollow is most commonly used to describe laidback, less defined mids.

Alright. How bad would I be affected from a "hollow" sound?

Honestly, the Sony XB500's dont look bad at all for my tastes. Those are a great possibility, especially if the LP2's are the best substitute for the LPs on the headphone.com website.

Do the XB500's have the same or better sound clarity than the LPs?

.And hollow sound would be good for EDM because bass can make the mids sound muddy. When it is hollow, muddiness is less present and the mids are more refined.

Wow, quite alot to choose from there!

The Sennheiser HD419's seem to have a pretty good bass response, definitely to my liking. Could I EQ the drop that's right around 80hz and bring it up a bit? Also, do the HD419's have a pretty good sound clarity, better than the LPs?

1. Sennheiser HD419
2. Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro
3. Sony MDR-XB500
4. Beyerdynamic DT-770

Well, the graph is not completly accurate. The bass is there but you have to mod them to get it. If you wanna see something weird, go find the Pro900 graph. The Pro900 is a very bassy can but headroom says otherwise? Ahaha
If you get the HD419 then buy a Fiio E11 because you really get alot of bass once amped and with bass boost :basshead:
The HD419 are warm and have slightly reccessed highs ( as you can see is the graph)
They dont sound very natural, due to the closed back, but they do sound smooth and warm which i find very pleasant :)
All the list will satisfy a bass head!
