you COULD save like 950$ and get the KSC-35 or KSC 75...

But since your not an audiophile, the UE-10 PRO must be the only logical direction.

Money is no object, so i want to say "I have the best in ear headphones available", not "I have a decent pair of clip-on headphones that are a great value".

Back to the original thread question, Grado GS 1000's.

I would have to respectfully disagree with this evaluation. I believe several others who have owned the Proline 750s and 2500s and subsequently purchased the UE9s over on the big Ultrasone thread would disagree as well.

I think it is wonderful that you prefer the GS1000, others may also feel these are the best at Rock as well.

Given all that, I think if a poll were to be taken, due to the limited experience around here for the UE9s, that the Sony R10 and Orpheus system would win out over the UE9s. While I could not make such an assessment since I have not spent any time with either of these alternatives comparing them with my UE9s.

The UE9s are great for me as I use them.

Well, if I get a system to match them the HE90's. Otherwise K340's all the way.

I literally can't pick on over the other, but

HP-2 and K-1000 - ended my journey.

From a technical standpoint the HE90 does things amazingly well, moreso than any headphone I've heard, but emotionally, I prefer the ones mentioned above. The R10 was a let down for me since I always assumed it would better all other phones and given it's price. I guess it's a matter of taste.

K1000, definitely.

Rob,

Agree on the K-1000s.   After listening to everything else the K-1000s with Stefan Audio Arts Equinox cabling and a First Watt F1 are still the best I have heard.
