The M-Audio Q40 over M50, XB----, Vmodas, DT770, etc. You want a smooth bassy monster that has excellent mids & smooth treble while still dropping massive, massive bass, this is the one.

Trust me. You'll be like:

Very best,

I can vouch that the Q40 is indeed a bass monster (with solid mids/highs as well), however I had significant comfort issues with them until I got some DT770 pads for 30 bucks. They may be a little above what you're willing to pay for, but if you're comfortable with buying used, you can probaly find a solid deal for them. I managed to steal a pair for 60 USD a month or two ago, so look around!

Comfortwise, go Sony. Stylewise, go V-Moda. Soundwise, go M-Audio.

Mostly due to the ever-present MalVeauX they've become quite a thing of late. M-Audio is pretty well-known for its components and has done some in-ears before, but the Q40 is probably going to be a big moneymaker for them coming up if MalVeauX has his way. Its bass measures up to ATH-PRO700MK2 quality for quite a bit less.

You're not going to get much of an upgrade from the M50 for $100. Doesn't the M50 cost more than that? If you do decide to get another $100 pair of headphones, at least take a side step so you're not essentially buying another M50.

Otherwise, I would sell the M50 and buy an Ultrasone PRO 750... there really isn't much sense in owning two headphones with the same sound signature.
