Best headphone amp with L/R balance controls?

    hello,

    Im in need of a headphone amp equal or better than a JMT Pimeta Home that has controls to balance the LEFT and RIGHT channels, my headphones that I will be using are AudioTechnica a900's and Sennheiser HD600's....

    The reason is because for some reason the Pre-outs of my Yamaha rx-v2400 are screwed up and one channel is louder than the other, and i want all my sources to be able to play through the new amp. the only way i can get audio out universally for all my sources is through the pre-outs on my yamaha receiver.

    so.... Im in need of a headphone amp that will be able to balance the level of Left and Right channels. I wanted a SinglePower amp but the only one that has this feature is the Maestro which costs TOO MUCH!....

    budget = under $1,000 including all add-ons

    also any other suggestions as to options for balancing my left and right channels out of my main pre-outs of my receiver would be greatly appreaciated!

    Im a newbie to posting but i have been on head-fi for 6 months.

    ps: I dont want to use the balance on the receiver it self because it is univesal and screws up the balance i have set for my main speakers (ascend cbm-170s).

    Thanks in advance!

    ok nevermind the maestro does not have this feature,...

    is there any amp that has this feature .. or do i have to get a separate tuner/eq hardware component?

    the HeadAmp gilmore balanced reference has dual ladder attenuators, one per channel... but it seems out of your budget, and the difference between volume levels might be different than the adjustment you need so that may not work too well anyways.

    if you want a SinglePower amp, you can try calling / e-mailing Mikhail and see if he can put in a L/R balance control. he custom builds each one so although it may take some time to implement the feature, I don't see why he couldn't do it.

    most of the other DIY / custom amp builders should be able to help you out too.

    Singlepower can add a balance control on its amps for you. That would put both the PPX3 and MPX3 in your price range. Give Singlepower a call.

    Man! I’m reading this thread, and I’m about to cry! Do not run stereo audio through your Yamaha receiver period. Jesus, contact Justin at headamp.com, and at least order a Gilmore V2, so you have a decent preamplifier, and headphone amp. Spend the rest of your limit on an amp to drive your speakers. Keep the Yammy for home-theater please!
