Yes It might seem like an oxymoron, a gaming headset that's also good for music, but its what I'm looking for.

I'm a freak when it comes to my PC room, the desk needs to be as clean as possible, all my wires are tied down, no useless crap, everything looks good. So I don't want a free standing mic, and I don't want a diy mic either, I want a gaming headset that's on par with mid range dedicated music cans. Mic quality is also important as I raid lead (nerd alert I'm aware).

I've been using Tiamat 7.1 / Xonar DX, while they are good performers when it comes to gaming, for music the excessive bass just drowns out everything, even with bass turned all the way down. Also I have no more room for the Xonar on my mobo with my new vid cards so I tried the Tiamats with onboard sound and its just terrible, the bass is even more muddy without any kick, just bad.

I've been looking at a lot of reviews and I'm currently leaning towards the Sennheiser G4me Zero (150ohms) paired with most likely a Schiit Magni 2 amp.

I prefer a V-shaped sound signature, I use RHA 750s with a Schiit Fulla on my laptop and I absolutely adore the sound that they put out, hard hitting lows without them being overbearing and very crisp highs. Also I much prefer the closed type of the sound, better lows and no exterior noise at the cost of accuracy.

As far as the Sennheisers go, seems like its the common consensus is that they are the best sounding gaming cans correct?

What about the amp? Any other low end amps (100$) that I should be considering with my preferences in mind? I like the look of the Magni and could eventually pair it up with a Modi.

Also quick question, how many posts do I need to post this in the big boy forums?

Thanks!

Well man if you were just going for headphones, the HyperX Clouds from Kingston aren't godly, but great for the price (less than $100 but real leather, good comfort, and quality of $200+ headphones)
But if you're going to go for a Schiit Modi, go for something like the ATH M50x's.
If you want something flat then the HD 558 is great, but the M50x's will have good bass.
I'm just guessing that your budget is around $250?

One more thing, I wouldn't post about a similar topic within a span of 2 days.
Something about people saying 'help will eventually come' and 'wanting only 1 of each thread' or something, none of my business though XD

My other thread kinda turned in the this thread without me really wanting it to, I was trying to figure out why my Tiamats were not performing adequately with the U7 but I have given up on that and opted for just chaning my setup. I'll try and get the other one closed.

As stated in my original post I want a gaming headset with integrated mic, the Game Ones have the same drivers as the HD558s, however like I said I want a closed back headset which is why Im leaning towards the Game Zeros, and my budget would probably be closer to 400-450$ if I need to buy an amp to power the Zeros.

EDIT:

Well further research has informed me that the outgoing G4me Zeros have the same 150ohm drivers as the PC350s, and the new version, the Game Zeros have the same 50ohm drivers as the G4me Ones which are the HD558s.

So I guess my new question is, what is better for music the PC350s drivers with a headphone amp (magni 2) or the HD558 drivers with a U7 sound card. Im really worried about the 558's reputation about weak lows although they would be slightly better in a closed headset, which the Zeros are.

When you say 'drivers like the 558', do you mean like a similar signature?
Anyways if you're to do any kind of gaming, warmer headphones 'may' be more suitable, and if you don't mind anything that's somewhat 'bass heavy', look over the HD6, HD7, and HD8 from Sennheiser.
It's the DJ lineup but it should still sound great?
They're all bass heavy, but the bass is also extremely tight, and the highs and mids are still clear.
