Is that Benchmark DAC1 for $795...
The 96Khz version they sell? Or...
Is it the 192Khz version they sell?

Modded M-Audio Super DAC 24/96, according to some folks, is ***extremely*** good value for money and can compete with MUCH more costly DACs when modded (up there apparently with the Chord DAC64 - a $2,000 DAC). That is a ~ $300 DAC with approx another $200-$300 of mods.

pbrikett -- what exact mods would you recommend with that choice ... and from where / who ?

Thanks

Yes, it's the Benchmark DAC1 with the matte faceplate (the 192Khz version).

The MF A3.24 is great, from some reviews and others who have heard the MF and the Bel Canto DAC2, they claim the two are almost comparable.
