  So you're saying damping is an issue that would require an amp to resolve, but this isn't the case with an iPod Classic and the MA750s are great as they are anyway, so no need for an amp? (Sorry, not familiar with all the audiophiliac language!)

All you need to know is that your iPod Classic will do more than a suitable job in driving them to near 99% of its potential. You could perhaps squeeze the last 1% out, but at this price range, it's not really worth it.
