Hi guys, been looking around the forum for a while looking to see what type of ear buds would best fit me. Great information all of you bring.

But I am still up in the air on what get. For the most part I listen to rock, punk, hardcore and indie music. I'd like the earbuds to complement that sound. I also listen to some acoustic and electronic from time to time. So I would like some bass in there as well. I would like some decent isolation, nothing too drastic. At the moment I use the Sennheiser MX400s that came with my iRiver H320. Just for informational purposes, other daps I use are the iRiver U10 and x20.

I've tried out my sister's Sony Fontopia MDR-EX51LPs and I wasn't all too impressed. I still thought the MX400s sounded better, except for the bass.

So far, people have recommended me these:

Shure's e2cs ($60-$70)
Crossroad's Mylarone X3
V-moda's Vibes
V-Moda's Bass Freq ($40)
Creative's EP 630
Sennheiser's CX 300 (below $30 on ebay)
Super.fi 3s
Jays d-Jays

So many to choose from that i'm completely lost as to which ones to get. I just wouldn't want to buy some ear buds and then find out they completely don't fit the sound of the type of music I listen to and be stuck with them and lose out on $$$.

I'm looking for some ear buds at or below $80. Of course, i'd like to avoid paying the max of what I would pay but all of your suggestions and opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is the Yuin PK2 really that impressive? Especially for rock music?? I'm a little hesitant on this one because they look like cheap and ordinary ear buds, i dunno. I've read that there isn't much isolation at all on the PK2s. I'd like some decent isolation. Anymore opinions? They are greatly appreciated!

Yuin PK2 FTW - no earbud under $100 can reproduce guitar sound quite as well as this one. Isolation is none and bass is below average though.

If not, Crossroads Mylarone X3 will be the next best choice IMO. Not much flaws for the price except for very slightly recessed midrange.

Skip the EP630 and CX300, they didn't sound "hi-fi" enough to me, they just sounded good for the price.

Shure E2c-unmodded, highs are quite bad and they sound a bit boring. I've heard good comments about them when modded tho.

Creative's EP 630 - NO, close to above
Sennheiser's CX 300 (below $30 on ebay) - YES/NO
Super.fi 3s - NO, it is too recessed and relaxed.
Jays d-Jays - YES

YUIN PK2 - YES! YES! Dast ist fantastich!

PK2 strictly needs 50-100 hrs burn-in.
