Best DAC for $200 $250

I plan on buying a DAC to take audio out of my laptops secondary USB port but whats the best value for money up to $250?

Probably the HeadRoom Micro DAC, used. I just saw one sold a day or two ago in the FS forum here within your price range. I actually would have tried to buy it if it weren't for the fact that it was a North American model (the power supply would not have been ideal for me since I'm in Europe).

For a commercially produced DAC, the Micro DAC is probably your best bet. You can also get a USB > SPDIF converter (~$30) + a standard DAC ($150 +).

If you want to DIY, you can get some very nice USB DAC kits for $70+

Btw, if the price is right, you can purchase a 220v adaptor from headroom for 39.95... still bringing the total price under a brand new one!

I have been researching the EMU 0404 and looks very interesting...
