Could someone recommend a pair of good/great closed balanced headset around $1500?
While I already have the Utopia and HD800S and love them, any sound coming out of them drives my wife crazy.
I need something closed, not even semi-closed. I have the Shure 846 but doesn't cut it.

Mr.Speakers makes some of the best closed-back headphones, like the Ether C Flow's (which also come with a 2.5 mm balanced cable option). While I've never personally heard them, I've heard only good things about them.

I still think to this day that Mr. Speaker's Alpha Prime is the best closed back headphone, regardless of price.

If you can find it used then I'd definitely snag it!

i'll take a look at Mr. Speakers headphones. Any thoughts about the OPPO's cans? The PM-1 looks nice though I have no idea how they sound

Although I don't own them (for money reasons), ZMF Eikon got lot of praise from different reviewers, so you might consider them.
