Anyone have any advice on what the best headphones I can get for under $75, preferably under $50 are? I prefer bass heavy, but still clear bass if possible and close backed. I've been looking at the Audio Technica ATH-M40fs, Koss Pro-4AA, and the JVC HA-RX700.
I'm leaning towards the Audio Technicas, but I haven't been able to find a whole lot on them. Has anyone here had a pair or used a pair?
The Koss', however, I originally looked at them because of the kind of ugly, yet kind of cool retro look, but I've seen some good reviews. Anyone here know anything about them?
And the JVC's I originally read about here actually, so I've heard a lot of good things about them.

Which does everyone here think is the best and does anyone have any better ideas?

I use the JVC's, but they're my first pair of true headphones in many years..I recently replaced my Turtle Beach HPA2's with them and was blown away if that's any consolation. Just driving thru my X-Fi Xtreme Music atm, and quite impressed. I've heard good about the Koss, if you can find a set of Audio Technica ATH-A/AD700's those might do well too from what I've read. I'd probably check out the A (closed) first tho as I'm somewhat of a bass fan and like isolation. But take my suggestions with a grain of salt, I'm still pretty new to this kind of stuff. Cheers.

Thanks for the input, I prefer the closed too, although I have found a pair of AD700's for only $80. Makes me strongly consider it since I have heard good things about the bass response; but I'm going to be in a dorm come fall and don't want to annoy my roommate with all my music and what not all the time.

Sorry, my brother just corrected me, they're $80; but that's still a phenomenal price. I just really prefer the closed-back construction and $80 is a bit higher than I wanted to spend. Extremely tempting though.

Closed, bassy, and preferably of the less expensive variety... that would be the RX700 for ~$34 shipped. I'm not sure though how well it prevents sound from leaking out.

I've heard a lot of good things about those; they might just be what I get. I take a while when buying anything though, so maybe I'll find something else before I finally decide.

The RX700s leak pretty much no sound at all but also do not isolate very well. They would also be my pick for sub-$50 headphones with decent bass response.
