What's the best android dap on your list? Mine was the note 4 but I swap it for a galaxy S6 and I'm kind of regretting my desicion Sq-wise. Any particular dap you love or love pairing with dac+amp?

PonoPlayer v1 is running Android and I'm sure it sounds better than any phone ever made.

The hum pervasion, dx100 runs your standard garden variety android.

I am also rather sure the sony android series is better than the pono, at least in my opinion, they also run standard sony android

What Android based DAP's are out there that actually allow you to install music apps (Spotify, Tidal, ...)?

I only know of the Acoustic Research M2 and the Sony models...

Which Sony DAP do you speak of, the $1200 one?  I'll take the $400 pono over the overpriced Sony any day.

The $200 Sony walkman I read about isn't available in my country.

I'd be very surprised if the Sony sounded as good as the Pono in critical listening. Sony is still mainstream consumer integrated circuits with every feature in the book, many of which will degrade from overall sound quality. PonoPlayer is no-compromise, except maybe the 1/8" jacks.

That is not a very long list unfortunately. Out of those listed, which have a non-proprietary digital out?

You mean like spdif?  That would be nice, I suppose, but with a nice DAC and analog section, plus line out, plus balanced out, plus easily transferring files off the device, in what case would you need to send audio out digitally without going back to analog first?

I was thinking in terms of having the option to hook the DAP up to a home audio system.

i'm assuming this is because you have a better DAP and amplifier in the home system?  I run my Pono directly into line in, which will use the DAP's DAC and the stereo's amplifier.

But you are correct, this is not digital out.
