Has anyone tried out a Phillips HP890 in a (non-souped-up) Meta42 amp? Or in a Mint amp? I'm probably going to build a Meta42, and I'm curious to know if it will sound good, or if I should build a different type of amp instead.

IMO not worth amping an hp890. if you could afford it i would get an senn hd580 and then a moderately specced meta or something.

my alessandro ms1 sounds way better than the hp890 for id say 95% of music.

ive heard of a couple of people amping an hp890, but it still didnt bring it up to the standard of their better headphones.

hopefully ill have a grado ra'1 clone in a couple of weeks so i can first hand info then.
