hey all,

I have recently decided that the beyerdynamic dt770 headphones were the best for my needs and now need to find an amp to match them. What would be my best option. I want to spend about $500 or so which would include the headphones and the amp. what would you suggest, also, where would be the best place to purchase both the headphones and amp?

thanks,
ipaqman

I listen off off my soundcard's digital out as follows:

Digital Out --> Moon Audio Blue Dragon Coax Cable --> HeadRoom Micro DAC --> Cardas Mini-to-Mini Interconnect --> HeadRoom Micro Headphone Amp --> DT 770 (the 80 ohm version)

Works nicely for me. It really opens up the DT 770 and gives it more of a soundstage and a nice sense of "airiness."

Is it safe for me to assume that you won't be using the DT 770 as your headphone of choice for your portable audio needs?

Before I got my Darth Beyers I used my DT770/80's with a Xin SuperMacroIII and I quite enjoyed the sound.

I still use the Xin amp now with my Darth Beyers and they are really good according to my ears.

Well, if you can stretch your budget just a little bit, order a Meier Audio Aria amp from Jan Meier, along with the DT770/250, and Jan will probably give you a nice package deal.

hey,

I am definately going to get the dt770's, but wanted to know which version to get the 250 ohms or the 80 ohms version... I will be using these headphones at home with my ipod and an amp. I was thinking the 80 ohms (DT770 PRO). Also, any other suggestions for amps that would match the beyerdynamics?

what about this amp from beyerdynamic?

The 770/80's are generally regarded as the best of the bunch.

They have tighter bass and less recessed mids than the 770/250

yah im definately going to get the dt770/80s. i just need to find an amp for them. what do you find the best amp to go with your dt770/80s? Anyone know anything about the Creek Audio - Creek OBH-21 Headphone Amplifier?

Whats the best amp for the price that would perfectly compliment the dt770s? I dont care if its portable or not.

Thanks,
ipaqman
