Hi,
I'm new to the headphone game. Sorry if this question has been asked 100x but I didn't see it in a quick search.
I have a pair of Sennheiser 580s and am looking for an amp for around or less than $800 retail. I'm actually planning to buy used but don't want to spend more than $500--thus the $800 retail point. I'm also going to pick up the Cardas cable for these since I can get them brand new for 1/2 price. Otherwise, it seems kind of stupid at ~2x the cost of the 'phones!
I recently went to the meet at Jude's place and really loved the emmeline hr-2 and similar battery powered version (xp-7?) I also liked the meir corda something or other (there was a lot of gear to keep straight for a first timer!) but didn't really get to do a fair comparison between the two.
Does anyone know of an amp that I should definitely consider? I've already ruled out the Gilmore models after talking with some of the guys. I'm definitely not opposed to cheaper amps if the quality is good.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Jeff
