Say I wanted to spend 500 on a pair of IEMs.

The main criteria were that they were relatively flat, had accurate, but not hyped bass/sub bass, and had a big soundstage.

I ALSO know this isn't flagship money, and wonder with IEMS if it's better to buy the TOTL from a lower end manufacturer, or the lowest tier of a top range manufacturer.

Anyone have any strong opinions?

Not picky about country of origin.

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules on your question. That said, I would recommend that you check out a Campfire Audio Nova and see what you think. It is fairly balanced and sounds fantastic for the money. Glorious mids. Maybe read about it and see what you think. It is possible it could work for you.

I know these go just over your budget, but they are one of my favourites at the moment, the Noble Sage.

If you don't mind the odd shape, the Dunu DK-3001 sound superb for the price too.

I really would like to hear a pair of the Nobels... People seem to love them!

I've seen the Dunu name, but know nothing.

Thanks for the recommendations!

For the £549 price the Sage are really good performers, being engaging and fun to listen to without too much emphasis on any part of the sound.

The Dunu are smoother and a little more polite, but with fantastic layering and detail.

It seems like it might be worth the extra 50 for the Nobel.

Thanks for the information!
