I'm looking for something smaller than what I have now which is a 3rd gen 40gb iPod. Besides the fact that I hate it, it just has too much space! I can never figure out what the hell to listen to....sooo, I'm looking for a nice 5-10gb player. It does not need to have video support as I'll only be listening to music. Sound quality is the most important. FLAC would be a bonus. Thanks.

One thing for sure, you will have to move away from Apple iPod's!

Cause they have no player in the 5-10GB range. Its either a 4GB iPod nano, or a 30GB iPod.

I'm not sure if it's out yet or not, but the iaudio 6 would suit your needs except it only holds 4GB. It also plays flac and has some other cool features.

I have a Zen micro and I really enjoy it, but it wont play flac. It has some nice features like a removable battery and a so so FM radio. I find it to have very nice sound quality albeit a little light on bass.

A question for you, now if you want to play FLAC on your DAP wouldn't you need more space? I ask this because I'm guessing that your current audio is in lossy, so you're basing your 5-10gb needs on the lossy files. You'll need more space if you plan to move on to FLAC.

Here's a player I'm recommending for use with FLAC. The Cowon iAudio x5. Great audio. Comes in 20gb $279.99 and 30gb $299.99

If you're willing to spend a little more I recommend the Cowon iAudio x5L. Smae great features as the player above except you get 35 hours of battery life instead of only 14. You'll need the extra battery life if you plan on playing FLAC.
20gb $309 and 30gb $329.00

If you don't care about a color screen and want to cut cost a little here's the Cowon iaudio M5. Basically the same as the player above but with no color screen and a cheaper price tag. $249 for 20gb

Again these recoomendations are only because I'm asuuming that if you plan to use FLAC you'll need more space then 5-10gbs
