Been really enjoying the HPA-2 headphone amp built into my DAC-3HGC - but since one of the headphones it's driving is a Beyer T-1 gen 2 - I'm curious about what the power output is at 600 ohms ? The closest spec I can find for this is for a 300 ohm load -nothing so far for 600 ohm ? Benchmark recommends 600 ohm phones and the T1g2's sound absolutely effortless with this headphone amp - still-to add to what SWMBO'd calls my large supply of useless knowledge -does anyone know if this particular (600 ohm) impedance has been formally tested /published by anyone ?

The maximum output of the HPA2 is 9.2 Vrms (from page 66 of the manual).

P=(V^2)/R

P = (9.2^2)/600 = 84.64/600 = 0.14 Watts = 140 mW

600-ohm headphones require lots of voltage but very little current. The 9.2 Vrms output from the HPA2 is more than enough to drive most 600-Ohm headphones to ear-piercing levels. Many headphone amplifiers lack the voltage needed to drive 600-Ohm headphones. For this reason, you may find that your 600-ohm headphones do not work well with portable devices. They are a great match for the HPA2.
