Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I use my DAC-1 primarily for an amp so it fits for me.

Those of you who own a DAC-1, do you leave it always on or do you unplug it or have it on a switched power supply to shut it off?
I'm not a big fan of leaving gear on for extended amounts of time. Even though I use the DAC-1 almost every day, I still prefer to unplug it when not in use.

Just curious as to what others do.

I always leave them on.

All my audio equipment connect to a single Isotek Multiway. The components themselves are off, other than the DAC1 which remains on (as per email suggestion from Benchmark). If not in use for an extended period of time though, I simply switch off the power at the wall receptable where the Multiway connects, shutting off the DAC1.

Unless it's running very hot all the time - leaving it on would not shorten the lifespan (except if you are unlucky during a thunderstorm).

Most components sound's best after it warms up a little till it reaches the optimal operating temps of the components e.g. some transistors (especially in the output stages). For example - some class A mosfet / Jfet amps with large heatsinks reaches steady state for optimal sound after 30-60min. The DAC-1 probably should need a lesser warm up time.

I guess leaving it on all the time wastes electricity too - except in winter when it provides some warmth

My $0.02 - leave it on when at home - so you can listen at a moment's notice. Switch it off when going to work / school or any extended period of time > 2hrs.
