I heard the album and its a step forward from Guero. Its more grunge and less trying to be Odelay Part 2 funky. The first half of the album is excellent especially Strange Apparition. One thing though, the album is a tad too long, 15 songs and it kinda loses focus and just drags on towards the end. Am i the only one who thinks that Beck kinda made it difficult for himself by raising the bench so high with Sea Change?

Yeah, I noticed their was 15 tracks which is RIDICULOUS. If the tracks are 15 actual songs, that is way too much for me. Of course I actually listen to albums through which is probably my problem in the first place. I always felt that one reason "Sea Change" is liked because (the original version) only had eleven tracks!

Beck is one of those artists where many seem to have a different favorite album. For me, that has to mean something. For me, "Mutations" (the other eleven track Beck album) is the high point.

Thanks for the info! I look forward to this one.

Maybe Beck has passed his peak? I have a feeling people expect ming boggling innovations from him album after album. That is very stressful....but having said that, his least albums would still be muuuuuuch better than the crap they play on radio

Funny how music inspires such an "us vs them" mentality.
