My brother has these headphones and personally I would have gone with the denon d 2000's for price, quality, and COMFORT but he already owns the BEATS so might as well stick with them. That said, can he amp these bad boys? I hear they have an internal amp, but when he plugs the cans into his computer's audio jack he thinks it sounds bad. However, when he plugs the BEATS into his onkyo sr 607 receiver he really likes how they sound... Conclusion... his computer has weak amplification. So... How much would the sound really improve if he invested 200 dollars into getting an amp? I assume it will sound better than his computer amp, BUT will it sound better than his receivers headphone amp? Thanks

Is your onkyo plugged into a CD player or to his computer by digital? It might be because it has a DAC in it that is out classing the computer's sound card.
It also wouldn't hurt the headphones (it would hurt the wallet

) to try and experiment with some amping, if you want to.
